If the (slightly) cooler autumn weather has you itching to get outside, Gilbert is one of the most dog-friendly communities in the Phoenix area. Farmers markets, restaurants with outdoor seating, and seasonal events are all great opportunities for your dog to join you for outings. In fact, there are several opportunities coming up for you and your pet to get out and enjoy the Gilbert scene together.
Dog-Friendly Events Coming Up in Gilbert This Fall
October 3: The Gilbert Art Walk is a pet-friendly event showcasing creativity through painting, sculpture, handcrafts, and more.
Wednesday-Sunday in October: Vertuccio Farms in nearby Mesa welcomes dogs and their families to its Fall Festival throughout the month of October. Don’t miss the legendary 5-acre corn maze.
November 7: The fun continues with #LovePup Family Fest at Vertuccio Farms with a concert, fundraiser, and adoption event open to all.
November 21: The Gilbert Days Parade kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and welcomes all to come out and celebrate, rain or shine. This year’s theme is Hollywood in the Heritage District.
Before You Go: Tips for Dog-Friendly Events
- Check the weather first. Even in October, the sun can make sidewalks and pavement get too hot for paws.
- Keep a close eye on your dog to watch for signs of heat exhaustion if you’re out at midday. Always carry fresh water and a collapsible bowl.
- Check the event page ahead of time. There may be specific rules about leash length or about the areas where pets are allowed.
- Leave your pet at home if they are not comfortable in crowded, multi-dog environments. A frightened, aggressive, or poorly behaved dog can get you kicked out of an event because they might hurt themselves or someone else.
Is Your Dog Up-to-Date on Their Immunizations?
Another important thing to remember before you bring your dog to an event is that meeting other dogs increases their risk of exposure to contagious diseases.
It’s always heartwarming to meet other dog owners and to see your pet socializing. We know that our dogs like getting out of the house as much as we do! And that’s why we make sure they get the vaccinations, booster shots, and ongoing parasite prevention they need to stay safe.
From big holiday celebrations to al fresco meals at neighborhood restaurants, immunizations keep your dog healthy whenever they meet other dogs. No matter where your adventures take you, we can give you the peace of mind that your dog is protected. Contact Anasazi Animal Clinic to schedule a checkup for your dog today.
